The focus of our professional life has been interpretation: helping people understand one another, their history, different cultures and religions, and themselves. Robert Hunt

Robert Hunt  was born in Dallas, Texas, in 1955. After attending school in Austin and Richardson, he majored in History at the University of Texas in Austin. After completing a Master of Theology at Perkins School of Theology (SMU) he served the Bethany United Methodist Church in Austin, Texas. In 1985 he and his wife Lilian moved to Kuala Lumpur, where they taught at the Seminary Theology Malaysia. From 1993 to 1997 he taught at the Trinity Theological College. From 1997 to 2004 he was pastor of the English Speaking United Methodist Church of Vienna, and a lecturer at Webster University in Vienna. Dr. Hunt is presently Director of Global Theological Education at the Perkins School of Theology, and lecturer in World Religions and Mission at Southern Methodist University.

Lilian Hunt

Lilian Hunt was born in Sarikei, Sarawak, Malaysia of parents from China. She studied education in Kuching and worked as a teacher in Kapit, working with Chinese, Malays, Ibans, and children of other indigenous groups of Borneo. In 1975 she came to the U.S. where she studied Music Education at Martin College and Southern Methodist University. In 1983 she completed her degree in Ethnomusicology at the University of Texas. From 1985 to 1992 she taught at the Seminary Theology Malaysia as well as conducting church choirs and leading music workshops. She continued this work in Singapore from 1993 to 1997. There she completed a certification in teaching English as a second language from the British Consulate. From 1997 to 2004 she directed choirs for the English Speaking United Methodist Church, as well as teaching English as a second language at an Austrian Volkhochschule. Since returning to the U.S. in 2004 she has a post-graduate certificate in Music Therapy and practices music therapy for Sr. Citizens, particularly those with forms of dementia, and children with special needs or undergoing medical treatment.
